Motorists who clean their own cars, and those who use a mechanical car wash, will notice small scratches, swirl marks and other blemishes in their paintwork. The cause of these imperfections is grit from the bottom of the bucket when handwashing or, if you use a traditional car wash, it will most likely be grit caught in the rotating brushes. Professionals will know that these are two of the worst ways to clean a car and we wholeheartedly agree.
ABD Detailing, based in Fontwell, covers Chichester and the surrounding West Sussex area. We are mobile car valeting specialists, and our packages can include machine polishing. This is a mechanical process that rids topcoats and clearcoats of imperfections caused by inadequate cleaning, but we can also use our skills to cut out runs, sags and grit from paintwork and then bring back the shine using cutting compounds and finishing polishes.

Importantly, this is a fully mobile service. We can visit you at home or at work, which saves you from having to change your diary or take annual leave to accommodate us. ABD Detailing covers a wide radius of Chichester and instead of visiting a land-based workshop, we bring the workshop to you.
Prior to checking the condition of your paintwork, we clean your car first to rid it of dirt and to ensure we can see all blemishes and imperfections. If needed, we cut runs, sags and grit with a fine grade of abrasive paper to remove them, and we lightly sand areas with heavy swirl marks as part of the vehicle paint correction process. The purpose of this phase is to leave panels free from superficial paintwork issues prior to restoring the shine with a polisher.
After wiping the panels clean, we apply small beads of cutting compound to the sanded areas and begin machine polishing. The coarseness of cutting compound bites into the paintwork and brings back a shine but minus the imperfections. We take care not to burn through the paint when polishing.
We use a foam head on the polisher when working with cutting compounds.
Customers and clients from the Chichester area can then expect us to swap out the foam head for a lambswool alternative and machine polish the entire car with a finishing cream. Combined, the cutting compound and finishing cream maintain the shine, protect the paint and eliminate superficial marks.
For added protection, you can have a ceramic coating applied. There is also the option to use us for wheel coatings and vehicle glass protection.
